Free Help Availble for Businesses that could be affected by Flooding
Flooding can be a business disaster. As well as damage to premises or equipment, you may lose stock and supplies.
Local Businesses in Hampshire and Isle of Wight that are concerned about the way flooding might affect them are today urged to contact Business Link for help and advice or visit www.businesslink.gov.uk/southeast/flooding
Today, there are 32 flood warnings in place across Britain and the Met Office has said that up to 250 mm of rain (9.8 in) is possible on higher ground.
Business Link, the free business information and advice service, has created a flood risk assessment guide available at www.businesslink.gov.uk/southeast/flooding where businesses can find the information they may need on how to:
Assess the risk of flooding
Draw up a flood plan
Insure their business against flooding
Reduce potential flood damage
Train employees to deal with flooding
Deal with the aftermath of a flood
Business Link’s Deborah Wyatt says: ‘Simple preparation and planning can help dramatically reduce the effects of flooding. Businesses who prepare for flooding, for example, can save up to 90% of the cost of lost stock and moveable equipment. We can advise how that can be achieved and are keen to help.’
