Rushmoor is home to a number of major employers including a cluster of nationally important aerospace research and development companies, together with computer science and telecommunications companies. Major employers located in the Borough include the Ministry of Defence, QinetiQ, BAE Systems, Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), British Telecom and Nokia.

Rushmoor has proved attractive to inward investors, in particular the 47.5 hectare Farnborough Business Park owned by Slough Estates. The area also benefits from a varied workforce which includes highly skilled technical staff

The Borough has an excellent quality of environment and lies in an area of great natural beauty. The River Blackwater and Basingstoke Canal run through the Borough providing magnificent areas for wildlife, and just to the south lies the Hogs Back escarpment, part of the North Downs. The Borough also boasts a range of leisure and entertainment facilities including a recreation centre, open air pool complex, golf course and theatre.
